There are two types of CPR that can be done. The first is chest compressions to get a dog breathing, and the second is chest compressions to breath and pump the heart. Because of the position of the heart in the body, dogs should be placed on their right side to make the compressions more effective. Compressions can be given at a rate of 30 compressions and two breaths. Recheck for signs of breathing after each cycle. CPR is not always effective with animals or humans. You need to take your personal judgment when to stop. If they show signs of life, stop and re-assess.
