Small dogs need to be treated and checked in the same way as larger dogs but certain things can become potentially dangerous more quickly than they would in larger breed. These include but are not limited to dehydration and blood loss.

Smaller dogs can be more assertive or aggressive, because of their stature they are just protecting themselves, this can make them more inclined to snap or bark at someone or something when they feel threatened, being calm and avoiding sudden movements will help to keep him or her more relaxed, especially if they are feeling unwell.
